An On-Going Story Times are changing. The Bay itself is changing. Like their fathers before them, today’s watermen are meeting the challenges of their day with persistence, courage, and creativity. Unlike many museums, the Tilghman Watermen’s Museum will tell a story that is still being told, a history still being written |
Progress • A generous donor has offered land at the entrance to the Island
• Talbot County officials are working with TWM organizers to enable a museum to be built there • One workboat has been acquired |

Looking Ahead
o TWM will sponsor guest lectures and panel discussions on "heritage" topics o Design of the physical museum is under study o Oral interviewing begins soon. WATERMEN'S MUSEUM is a non-profit community-based endeavor designed to commemorate the work of generations of Tilghman's Island watermen and their families and others who supported them, and to strengthen the Island community by establishing a new institution centered on heritage-related activities. By combining the expertise of former and current watermen with the talents of others who have made the Island their home, the Museum will preserve, document and publicize the facts, artifacts, stories, and lore related to the role of Tilghman's Island in the on-going history of the Chesapeake Bay. |
